so proud

So we went in for a followup with the ped about Noah’s puking episodes (which have been absent lately, thank god), and we mentioned that Noah knew 19 signs. The doctor said that he was more articulate than most 14 month olds… made me feel so proud! :) Go Noah!

weight update

We went back to the ped yesterday to recheck Noah’s weight. He’s 15 lbs, 5 oz, so he gained 13 oz in a month! Yay! He’s about 5th percentile on weight, but the ped said that as long as he parallels the growth curve from now on, he’s happy. We’ll just have a long, skinny stringbean boy!

He also got dose 2 of the flu shot. All done! And our big boy only cried for a few seconds.

6 month visit

We’re a little late reporting on Noah’s 6 month checkup. It was last wednesday, 10/27. The biggest news is that Noah lost weight. He was 14,14 at his 4 month visit and 14,8 at this visit (and they measured him on 2 different scales). His latest stats:
Height – 27″ (75th percentile) (26″ last time)
Weight – 14 lbs, 8 oz (10th percentile) (14, 14 last time)
Head circumference – 17″ (45th percentile) (15.5″ last time, I think)
Because he lost weight, we really need to work on pushing the solids on him. We’re supposed to still nurse him as much as we were, but also try to get him to eat more solids. Unfortunately, he hates them, so we haven’t had any luck with that.
Noah also got his shots – 4 of them – DTaP, Polio, HIB and the first dose of the flu shot.
We go back in 1 month to check his weight again and to get the second dose of the flu shot, if there’s any left then.

4 Month Check up

Noah weighs 14 lbs, 14 oz (50th percentile). He’s 26 inches long (85th percentile). He has a head circumference of 16 1/2 inches (also 50th percentile). 3 more shots, but he took them like a trooper. He only really cried at the last one.

2 month check-up

Back from the ped. Noah weighs 11 lbs, 7 oz (50%). He’s 23 3/4 inches long (75%), and his head circumference is 15 1/2 inches (50%). He got 3 shots (7 vaccines) and didn’t enjoy that at all!

2 week checkup

On Wednesday we went to Noah’s 2 week checkup, and we’re happy to report he’s doing well. He was 8 lbs, 4 oz (80th percentile), 21.5 inches long (95th percentile) and 14.5 inches head circumference (75th percentile). His circumcision has healed nicely, and the doctor was overall pleased at Noah’s progress. We were given the all clear to let *him* wake *us* at night when he needed to feed (when he was jaundiced we had to keep him on a tight schedule) and he made it 4.5 hours Wednesday night, which was nice. We go back in 6 weeks for his 2 month checkup! More pictures have been posted to his gallery, and more are to come, I’m sure!

week of hell is over

Well, yesterday Noah reached 2 milestones. First, it was his first day off the biliblanket. At his appointment Tuesday, his bilirubin level was down, and the doc said he looked much better than on Monday. We’re to keep an eye on his skin tone and make sure it doesn’t get worse – otherwise, we’ll see the doc in 1 week for his 2 weeks checkup.

Second, yesterday Noah got circumcised (more precisely he had a Bris). Let me just say ouch, and thankfully he won’t remember that at all (and thankfully I don’t remember mine). We were warned that we would know when he urinated – and that couldn’t have been more true. The squeal let go when he went #1 was a new level of shrill. Luckily, by last night that seemed to be getting better, and he seems to be handling it much better today. If we’re lucky, by the end of the weekend that will heal and his umbilical cord stump will have fallen off.

a little Jaundiced

So, when we left the hospital Friday, they told us to keep an eye on Noah since he looked a little jaundiced in the face, and if he started to look that way head to toe, then we should go see the doc.

Well, Saturday afternoon we noticed, but unfortunately it was after the pediatrician office had closed. So we called the answering service, talked to the nurse, and then to the on-call doc (who happened to be our pediatrician), and he suggested we come into the ER just in case. So we took him in, they drew blood, and the results came back that he had a bilirubin count of 15.8, which was a little high, but not high enough to admit him. They sent us home with a “biliblanket”, which is a UV light source that he can lay on (UV helps break down bilirubin in the blood), told us to expose him as much as we could, and come back today. We’re happy to report that after the second bilirubin test his level is down to 13.9, which the nurse was nothing to be concerned about, and to keep the UV light on him until we talk to our doc at our scheduled 2 day post-discharge appointment, which is tomorrow. So, hopefully he’ll continue the trend down and clear up a bit more.

40 weeks

Well, Noah’s due date has come and gone. We found out this morning that Emily is about 2.5 cm, and 65% effaced, and is still at -2 station (keep in mind that the measurement is subjective, so don’t take the 65% vs 80% as anything wierd). Noah is head down, has a good heartbeat around 130 bpm, and is still predicted to come in at less than 7 lbs. We have an appointment scheduled for next Monday, but we’re hoping we won’t need it! More news when we get it!
