Doctor's Checkup 30 Mar 2004 10:06 pm

37 week checkup

3 weeks to go – Emily’s Group Beta Strep test came back negative, so no IV antibiotics during delivery. Noah remains head down with a heartbeat in the 130s. First dilation examination next week!

Furniture!

The nursery now has furniture! The movers came this morning and put together the crib and set up the crib and changing table as we wanted it. Pictures can be found here. Now Emily only has about 4 hours of putting away clothes (the kid has a lot of clothes!)

36 weeks checkup

We’re only 4 weeks away, and Emily had her first weekly checkup this morning. Noah’s heartbeat came in nice and strong (the recording may sounds a little faint, the speaker wasn’t in the best position), and he continues to be head down (yay!). Emily also had her Group Beta Strep Test this morning, and we’ll know the results of that next time. See you in a week!

Baby showers 20 Mar 2004 05:52 pm

baby shower 2 down

Well, we just got done with our 2nd baby shower, this time here in Columbia. We had people come up from NC and down from PA, as well as from here in MD. We had it at Bertucci’s, a local Italian place. Emily made a cake that looks like one of the baby toys, and we got plenty of gifts – lots of stuff for Noah to play with. Pictures can be found here. More details later!

We can now have a child

OK, just kidding. But we did finish our 2nd of 2 childbirth classes on Sunday, and got our little certificate saying as much. Coming up next weeks – Breastfeeding class, but before that we have the shower in Columbia – more then!

34 weeks checkup

Another good checkup! Checkin in at 34 cm and 145 bpm, Noah remains head down. In other news Emily and I got certified in infant and child CPR for 2 years – let’s hope we never have to use it. Another checkup in a little less than 2 weeks, and then we start the once a week’s!

For once, an entry not related to a checkup

Well, we had 2 big events over the last few days. On Thursday, we got a tour of the Howard County General Hospital Labor and Delivery department (go here for your own virtual tour). It was renovated a few years ago, and looks very nice. We’re very exicted that this is where Noah will be brought into the world.

In other news, today we had our first of 2 6-hour ChildBirth classes. In today’s class we learned about signs of labor, stages of labor, and relaxation and breathing techniques. I learned some things, and of course, got to watch some videos.

We have an infant CPR class later in the week, and part 2 of the ChildBirth class next Sunday. We have a checkup Wednesday – more news then!
